Non-oriented silicon steel is a silicon-iron alloy with very low carbon content. The grains are irregularly oriented in the deformed and annealed steel plate.
The non-oriented silicon steel alloy has a silicon content of 1.5% to 3.0% or a sum of silicon and aluminum content of 1.8% to 4.0%. The products are usually cold-rolled sheets or strips with nominal thicknesses of 0.35 and 0.5 mm, mainly used in the manufacture of electric motors and generators.
High magnetic induction strength.
High stacking factor.
Good sheet punchability.
