As an important iron core material, oriented silicon steel has been widely used in power industry. Based on the production process and technical characteristics, the preparation process of oriented silicon steel can be divided into traditional thick slab process, thin slab continuous casting and rolling process and twin-roll thin strip continuous casting process. The traditional thick slab process is the main method for industrial production of oriented silicon steel, which can be divided into slab high temperature heating, slab medium temperature heating and slab low temperature heating according to heating temperature. The slab low temperature heating process has the advantages of low heating temperature, low energy consumption and low production cost, and is the mainstream technology for industrial production of high magnetic induction oriented silicon steel. According to the development history of oriented silicon steel, the preparation process of oriented silicon steel is reviewed comprehensively. The composition system and process characteristics of oriented silicon steel prepared by traditional slab high temperature heating, medium temperature heating and low temperature heating are summarized in detail. The low temperature nitriding process of slab is emphasized, and the development trend of oriented silicon steel is prospected.
